The Stale Curriculum Killer

My middle child had become incredibly bored with his normal curriculum. eFantasmic got him interested in learning again! Thanks eFantasmic!

Laura M. - Ohio

Errands The Easy Way

I had a whole day of errands to do. You know the kind of day. I was going to be in the car all day, and the kids were going to be trapped in the car with me. A few quick print outs from eFantasmic and they had fun the whole day, and even when we went into the insurance company office and they had to sit there for nearly two hours, they had their books and sheets and were happy. Now they want to know when we are going to have car day again.

Janey S. - Florida

Reading Day

We built reading day around eFantasmic curriculum. Now every Tuesday we get to lounge around in our pajamas, me on the sofa, them sprawled out all around me. We read, munch, talk about books and have the best together times ever. It's so relaxing just to be able to talk to my kids and discuss things. I am so thankful for your discussion sheets. I get to check them off as we talk about stuff, then they go right into my portfolio. My state doesn't require one, I just think of it as my scrapbook. The best part is when daddy comes home. They all jump up, and run over to show him all the stuff they did. I just wanted to thank all of you at eFantasmic and keep it coming!

Emma R. - Texas

I can’t believe how much stuff I get. I don’t know how you guys do it, but please keep doing it. My kids absolutely love your curriculum. They always ask me if there is any new stuff they can browse through. Thanks and keep going!

Sally L. - Indiana

The Trip To Grandma's

We had to go on a trip to grandma’s. I couldn’t imaging lugging all our school books with us. eFantasmic was the perfect thing. I printed out a bunch of stuff, and off we went. Normally they just watch TV at grandmas the whole time. They had fun, I was happy they kept doing school, and it was a great trip.

Jen W. - California

The Living Book Story

Dear eFantasmic,

I had my first living book experience yesterday. I never really understood the power of a living book until I walked in on my daughter. She was sitting in her room crying. When I asked her what was wrong, she explained to me that in one of the books she was reading, there was a character of a little girl traveling west in one of the Oregon Trail wagon trains. One night this little girl was asked to make soup for everyone. So she and a smaller child went and gathered vegetables for the soup.

It turned out that one of the vegatables that she put in the soup was a deadly poison and two little boys died from eating the soup. It effected my daughter so deeply, that she never forgot that story. Later when we were doing the eFantasmic curriculum, one of the questions was about that incident. It was then that my daughter told me, next time we go to one of the homeschool park days, she was to watch out for the littler kids, they are always putting things in their mouth.

So my daughter got to have a life lesson, without all the pain. That's the power of a living book. So please give us more living book curriculum!

Sandy L. - Georgia

Pre-Dinner With eFantasmic

I found one of the best uses for eFantasmic that I had to tell you ladies about. I call it the Pre-Dinner Video. What I do is look through your site to find the new videos you just added. I found several at my local library. One they didn't have but they were happy to order for me. Then when it's time to cook dinner my kids usually just watch TV. So instead I told them they could watch any of the videos I picked from the library.

They usually don't watch the whole video at one time. So I let them watch half an hour or so until I am done with dinner. Then by the end of the week they have watched the whole video and I can sit down with them and use the curriculum you so kindly provided me with.

I love it. They get to watch TV and I feel better they are doing something educational, and the best part of the whole thing is that at the end of the week I have sheets for my portfolio!

So make some more video curriculum! Thanks for everything and keep it up.

Mary Ann L. - Florida

eFantasmic is proud to release the first in a
whole new series of
Homeschool Social Curriculum

Homeschool Social Curiculum is designed for homeschool support groups, clubs, and homeschool organizations to get children together in a constructive, but more importantly, eFantasmic style, which is fun!

The Adventurer's Club's
Library Safari Into Africa

This is the first in a series of curriculum, and the official launch of The Homeschool Adventurers Club.

We tested this last week at a local Huskies and Ponies meeting. It was a blast! All the children had so much fun, that's all they talked about to-no-end afterwords, and all wanted to do it again in the next meeting.

All the moms agreed that they would use this format from now on.

What was interesting was that at this meeting, we had four guests from public schools. They said, "Wow, this was so much fun, you guys do this kind of stuff all the time?  How come we don't get to do this in our (public) school?" Those children wanted to come back and do it in our next meeting. Unfortunately for them, they will have started school by then. Fortunately for us, we get to do this again!

It was extremely exciting for the parents to see the process of kids searching for their reference materials for their presentation. The kids first looked in the library computer catalog for books on their topics. They found that there wasn't anything really there. Then they went to the reference section to find clues. From there they went back to the computer to search online to get more facts. They had to discover their own search terms, what worked, what didn't. Once they discovered what worked, you should have seen the exictement in their faces, the pride that they conquered it!  Plus it was a team effort.  Everyone was happy.

The children really learned how to utilize ALL the resources at the library. What was amazing was that you didn't know what they were going to present. Each time you do this, you are going to get completely different presentations.

Here's The Basic Setup: (Part of what we read to the children.)

Attention expedition team. Each of you has been brought here from different places for the purpose of this Library Safari expedition into Africa.

EACH OF YOU was brought here because you have a SPECIAL TALENT in finding the most INTERESTING and UNUSUAL things.

An expedition is a journey that is for a specific purpose. Safari is a Swahili word for the word "journey". So welcome to an exciting expedition through the libarary in search of exciting new discoveries.

During this expedition of the Adventurer’s Club, we will be exploring Africa. There will be five teams during this expedition. The teams are the Art Anthropology Team, the Music Anthropology Team, the Geographic Anthropology Team, the Zoological Team and the Botanical Team.

Each team will receive a Team Briefing sheet, and a Team Report sheet. The Team Briefing sheet will explain what each team’s assignment will be, and the Team Report sheet will be where each team describes their findings.

There is more to the curriculum that is read to the children, then the children are broken up into teams, and they begin to explore the library.

Plus, there is a "Formal Introduction" section of the curriculum where the children learn how to politely introduce themselves to others.

What I am about to tell you, was researched in 45 minutes.

Then they had additional 15 minutes to put together some amazing presentations. You should have seen them all working together, it was really fun just to watch. Once they put together their presentation, each took a turn to stand up and present their findings to the whole Expedition Group.

The parents absolutely loved it, because there is ZERO PREPARATION. The children loved it becuase it allowed them to explore, hunt and learn. During our test, here is what our little group of children turned up.

The Music Anthropology Team made a presentation on music. They played several African songs for us and explained to us how percussion and rhythmn heavily influences music. They also showed us how even in the simplist songs, there is always a reverence for elders and ancestors. Plus, the songs were quite nice. We all wanted to take the CD home!

The Art Anthropology Team showed us some really interesting bead artwork. They explained to us how the colors and shapes of beads all have meanings, and that bead jewelry is carefully crafted to tell a story, and convey meaning. I won't tell you what the yellow beads are for :-) You'll just have to have your own team find out.

The Zoological Team and Botanical Team showed us some really interesting animals and plants, while the Geographic Anthropology Team enlightened us to some startling facts about Africa. I had no idea that Africa is mostly desert! There was so much more than I can write here.

After the presentations, there was LOTS of discussion, and more facts came out as the discussions went on. Each child became an expert in their little field, and began to relate to other fields. It was really exciting to see it all come together.

FREE To The World

This was so much fun, we decided to make it free to the entire homeschool world! So go ahead and download it and give it a try!
