What other homeschoolers say about eFantasmic.
The Stale Curriculum Killer
My middle child had become incredibly bored with his normal curriculum. eFantasmic got him interested in learning again! Thanks eFantasmic!Laura M. - Ohio
Errands The Easy Way
I had a whole day of errands to do. You know the kind of day. I was going to be in the car all day, and the kids were going to be trapped in the car with me. A few quick print outs from eFantasmic and they had fun the whole day, and even when we went into the insurance company office and they had to sit there for nearly two hours, they had their books and sheets and were happy. Now they want to know when we are going to have car day again.
Janey S. - Florida
Reading Day
We built reading day around eFantasmic curriculum. Now every Tuesday we get to lounge around in our pajamas, me on the sofa, them sprawled out all around me. We read, munch, talk about books and have the best together times ever. It's so relaxing just to be able to talk to my kids and discuss things. I am so thankful for your discussion sheets. I get to check them off as we talk about stuff, then they go right into my portfolio. My state doesn't require one, I just think of it as my scrapbook. The best part is when daddy comes home. They all jump up, and run over to show him all the stuff they did. I just wanted to thank all of you at eFantasmic and keep it coming!
Emma R. - Texas
I can’t believe how much stuff I get. I don’t know how you guys do it, but please keep doing it. My kids absolutely love your curriculum. They always ask me if there is any new stuff they can browse through. Thanks and keep going!
Sally L. - Indiana
The Trip To Grandma's
We had to go on a trip to grandma’s. I couldn’t imaging lugging all our school books with us. eFantasmic was the perfect thing. I printed out a bunch of stuff, and off we went. Normally they just watch TV at grandmas the whole time. They had fun, I was happy they kept doing school, and it was a great trip.
Jen W. - California
The Living Book Story
Dear eFantasmic,
I had my first living book experience yesterday. I never really understood the power of a living book until I walked in on my daughter. She was sitting in her room crying. When I asked her what was wrong, she explained to me that in one of the books she was reading, there was a character of a little girl traveling west in one of the Oregon Trail wagon trains. One night this little girl was asked to make soup for everyone. So she and a smaller child went and gathered vegetables for the soup.
It turned out that one of the vegatables that she put in the soup was a deadly poison and two little boys died from eating the soup. It effected my daughter so deeply, that she never forgot that story. Later when we were doing the eFantasmic curriculum, one of the questions was about that incident. It was then that my daughter told me, next time we go to one of the homeschool park days, she was to watch out for the littler kids, they are always putting things in their mouth.
So my daughter got to have a life lesson, without all the pain. That's the power of a living book. So please give us more living book curriculum!
Sandy L. - Georgia
Pre-Dinner With eFantasmic
I found one of the best uses for eFantasmic that I had to tell you ladies about. I call it the Pre-Dinner Video. What I do is look through your site to find the new videos you just added. I found several at my local library. One they didn't have but they were happy to order for me. Then when it's time to cook dinner my kids usually just watch TV. So instead I told them they could watch any of the videos I picked from the library.
They usually don't watch the whole video at one time. So I let them watch half an hour or so until I am done with dinner. Then by the end of the week they have watched the whole video and I can sit down with them and use the curriculum you so kindly provided me with.
I love it. They get to watch TV and I feel better they are doing something educational, and the best part of the whole thing is that at the end of the week I have sheets for my portfolio!
So make some more video curriculum! Thanks for everything and keep it up.

Home » Show Me A Sample of eFantasmic Homeschool Curriculum
IMPORTANT NOTE : eFantasmic is upgrading it's curriculum to add Active Learning Activities. So the following examples, only show a small part of what will be coming in the next weeks.
As a homeschooling parent, you know the problem we all face. We homeschool all the time , at the store, at the library, on the sofa, over dinner, and anywhere we encounter an idea or a question. We homeschool all the time, but where's the proof!?! You understand that homeschooling is a life-philosophy. But, people in our society want proof. Where's the documentation? That's where eFantasmic comes in. It produces LOTS and LOTS of proof. I mean documentation coming out of the wazoo. If you discuss something, you've got proof. If you go over some new vocabulary, you've got proof. If your child has to think about something, you've got proof. It's exactly what WE homeschoolers need . Lots and Lots and Lots of proof . How Does It Work? It is actual curriculum. It's actually incredibly powerful curriculum based on library resources. Hey, we all pay taxes, and the library is full of some absolutely phenomenal resources, if you only knew which ones to pull off the shelf! What we did is go through the library and hand-pick some of the best resources, then built the curriculum around each book. So each curriculum is based on a library book or video. And each is stand-alone. So if you buy one, it's complete. There are lots of topics, as well as some fun things that kids love to read. So this curriculum is designed to provide LOTS and LOTS of documentation about what your child did. As you look through this, or print it out, and wonder, “My! That’s a lot of paperwork.” That’s the point. Lots of documentation and paperwork. Not paperwork that you have to fill out in triplicate, but lots of worksheets, summaries and other paper that you can print, have your child do, and then you have proof. Each curriculum includes two basic approaches: discussions and worksheets. Each is your choice. If you choose discussion, there is a special sheet for your child to write their name and date on. Then, as you discuss a new word or idea, your child checks off that item. This is still dated documentation of a discussion you had. So when you look down the list, and you see "Discussion Sheet". This is still something your child fills out. Think of it as a simplified worksheet. It's also documentation. If you choose a worksheet because you want your child to have some writing practice, that's fine too. There are lots, and lots of worksheets as well.IMPORTANT NOTE: This curriculum is designed to OVERWHELM. Not overwhelm you, but overwhelm anyone that asks you "what did you do?" Then when you show them, THEY should be overwhelmed. So PLEASE don't be shocked when you open one up. Don't think you or your child has to do ALL OF IT. You don't! You can pick and choose. Do as little or as much as you like. You can even do some now, and some days later, or even weeks later. If it's a topic you want your child to go deeper in, then there's lots of curriculum for that too. Just remember, YOU are the PARENT, and your JUDGEMENT as to what's right for you and your child at the time is the RIGHT THING. What I also want you to understand is that you can do an entire curriculum, just by sitting down with your child and having a discussion about the book. Plus, you still generate paper-work and documentation showing what you did.
What Do I Get? Each Curriculum Packet includes at the bare minimum:
Parents Guide New Vocabulary Discussion Sheet New Vocabulary Worksheets Advanced Vocabulary Worksheets Advanced Vocabulary Discussion Sheets New Concepts Discussion Sheets New Concepts Worksheets Advanced Concepts Discussion Sheet Advanced Concepts Worksheet Pre-Reading Parents Guide Pre-Reading Establish Purpose Discussion Sheets Pre-Reading Establish Purpose Worksheets Multiple Chart Of Retention Worksheets Pre-Reading Analysis Worksheets Power Reading Parent’s Guide Power Note Taking Worksheets Final Evaluation Worksheets 3 Crossword Puzzles 3 Decoder Challenge Puzzles 3 Word Searches Magic Square Challenge 3 Spelling Scrambles And much, much more! *NOTE: All worksheets, puzzles and challenges includes parents guides/answer sheets.
Sample Table Of Contents This is a sample from one of the table of contents. It describes the basic sections, and gives you a good idea of how the components work.
Read Me First If this is your first eFantasmic curriculum, then please read through this section. It will give you a great overview of all the stuff you are going to find in this packet. Of course, if you’ve already read it once, skip it!Video Vocabulary Parents Guide This is basically your answer sheet for the vocabulary words. You should read through these so you are familiar with the definitions. Some words obviously have more than one use. So this guide will also tell you the specific definition of the word used in this curriculum. These vocabulary words were chose to expand your child’s use of the language as well as focus on the concepts of this curriculum.Note: We think it’s a good idea to go ahead and talk about these vocabulary words before your child watches the video. The idea isn’t to quiz them or challenge them, but to learn new uses of words of the language. So we recommend just going through the vocabulary words, and telling your child the definitions that will be used in this video. This way, they gain some confidence before they even watch the video. Video New Concepts Parents Guide Once again, this is your answer sheet. You should quickly read through it to get an overview of the discussion questions and answers.Video Vocabulary Discussion Sheet If you don’t need your child to write the answers and you want to just sit down and talk to your child about the vocabulary words, then use this sheet. As you discuss each word and their use, have your child check off each word. When they are done, have them fill out their name, date it, and include it in your portfolio.Video Vocabulary Worksheet If you would like your child to do some writing, you can use these worksheets to have your child write the answers.Video New Concepts Discussion Sheet Again, if you would simple like to sit down and discuss these new ideas with your child, as you discuss each new concept, have your child check off each one. When they are done, have them fill out their name, date it, and include it in your portfolio.
Video New Concepts Worksheet This is the worksheet version of the New Concepts. If you would like your child to do some more writing, then use this worksheet. When completed, be sure to have your child write their name, date, then include this in your portfolio.Pre-Viewing Parents Guide If you’ve never read this before, please read it! It’s really powerful stuff, and often the most overlooked. So what is pre-viewing, and why is it so important? Most people watch videos or shows passively. Their mind becomes inactive as the sounds and video just plays along. At the end of a show or video they feel it was good or bad, but many of the details, and more importantly – the big ideas are lost! The problem with this method is that your child won’t retain much. That’s where pre-viewing comes in. This is a powerful technique to dramatically increase your child’s retention, comprehension and recall of what they learn. When it comes to whole-book-learning, or in this case whole-video-learning, it’s important to understand its place. When the producers of this video set out to create the video, they started with several important ideas they wanted to make sure your child understood. This process of Pre-Viewing helps your child undersand the big picture of what they are about to learn. It will enhance the learning, try it. Establish Your Purpose Discussion Sheet What does your child want to find out from watching this video? If your child doesn’t have this question in their mind before they watch the video, the information they get will be fragmented in their mind. This is a really important step in any learning! If anything, just use this Discussion Sheet to talk to your child for a few minutes before watching the video. Don’t forget to have your child check off the items, then sign and date it for your portfolio.Establish Your Purpose Discussion Sheet If you want your child to really formalize their purpose before watching the video, then go ahead and use this worksheet to have them write it out. Don’t forget to have your child check off the items, then sign and date it for your portfolio.Chart of Retention These charts will really improve your child’s enjoyment of the video they are about to watch. It will also drastically improve what they remember and retain from the video. Hence the name, chart of RETENTION. There are three versions. One is for discussion only. The other has large lines to fill in broad ideas. Lastly, there is a version for writing out more complex ideas. Which you use it up to you, and how much writing you want your child to do. But we recommend, at least do the discussion version so your child has a good framework of what they are going to watch.
NOTE: There are also 2 times that your child uses this Chart of Retention. Once is for before they read the book.
Power Observer Parent’s Guide These are some hints and tips on encouraging your child to be a Power Observer. Remember that the difference between just sitting passively and watching a video, and having your child be an active thinker while watching. So here are a few guidelines to remind your child of while they are reading. Power Note Taking Parent’s Guide This is probably one of the most important skills you can teach your child. Note taking is a powerful way to allow your child to retain more of what they saw. This isn’t the extensive note-taking method that we used when we grew up. This is a system designed to engage our brains, and allow our brains to store and organize the information we see. So it’s a powerful technique to teach your children.Final Evaluation Discussion Sheet This is to remind your child of the purpose they thought of for reading this book. Their thoughts should be organised in such a way as to describe the things that they have learned that definitely focus on thier primary purpose. These questions will help them organize those thoughts. Once completed, please have your child put their name and date at the top of this sheet.Additional Worksheets We’ve included lots of additional worksheets for your child with everything from crosswords puzzles, word searches, and lots, lots more. It’s important to note that these were not designed to be particularly challenging. Instead they are designed to be reinforcing. They are designed to have your child refer back to their vocabulary and discussion questions. After a few times of referring back, the meanings/definitions and concepts will be well reinforced in your child. That’s what these are designed to do. NOTE: Keeping It Fun Humans naturally enjoy, and call fun things that come easier to them. Children that are good at reading will easily say that they “love reading”. Children good at math will say that they “love math”. So these worksheets are designed to reinfoce, but to keep it easy enough so that they enjoy doing them. The more of these worksheets they “gobble-up” then the more they will remember the material, and still consider it fun. So you too should avoid overloading them so that it doesn’t become a chore. Keep it fun!
Portfolio Documents These are basically sheets that you fill out with your child’s name and date showing what your child did and accomplished. These are designed to be official looking, and serve as documentation. Of course we never recommend providing your state more information than is required. But whether your state requires them or not, you have them! That’s the point. You have documentation of what your child did, when, what they learned, what they covered, etc. It’s a self-documenting system. If the errant grandparent shows up and wonders what you’ve been doing, you can pull out a pile of papers, and say, “here!”.
Worksheets & LessonsThese range from sheets that your child actually fills out to answer questions, down to discussion questions that you can simply check off once you talked about the answers with your child. You are going to get A LOT. Don’t worry, you don’t have to use them all. You can use as little or as much as you and your child like. You can spread them out over time, put them all together into one lesson, or whatever you like. Hey, you are the parent, we trust your judgement over all else. Always. But whatever your choose, you have lots and lots to choose from. Just know that no one expects you to use all of it. It’s just available to you.
Basic & Challenging Each curriculum is divided into two parts. Basic and challenging. But really they are "Core Concepts" and "InDepth Concepts". What this means to you is that you really get two sets of curriculum. One is easier to make sure your child doesn't tire of the topic, and yet conveys the core "take-away" concepts. This way they learn the core concepts of the subject material. Also, if you have smaller children, then the "Basic" would be for them, and older children can do both. It also depends on the interest level of your child. The idea is never to "sour" them on learning, and keep it fun. Here's an example. One of my children loves anything to do with animals. So if the topic deals with animals, he happily will struggle with material beyond his reading level, and INSITS on doing the "Challenging" sections. He loves it, devours it, and wants more. On the other hand, History is NOT his favorite topic. So I am happy to just let him do the "Basic" set, knowing that he is at least learning the core concepts of that historical passage, and allowing him to retain his love for learning. As he gets older, I still have the "Challenging Section" for some point in the future. But when I present it to him in the future, he will already be familiar with the topic, understand the core concepts, and be more willing to learn a little more, and possibly expand his interests. But of course, YOU are the best judge of what's best for your child. Our goal was to give you as much flexibility as possible, so you can adapt it to YOUR needs and YOUR child's needs!
NOTE: This sample was taken from a Level 3 Reader. So a pretty easy book. Of course the higher level and science based books cover more complex topics and vocab, but the whole idea is that each curriculum is a template for you to explore the books and ideas with your child.
Everything is based on engaging topics. So from the start, eFantasmic is designed to excite your child about the topic.
So no matter what you do from this moment forward, whether you use this curriculum or something else, YOUR CHILDREN ARE BETTER FOR IT.
So KUDOS TO YOU!!!!!!!!!!.
So now on to the sample...
I wanted to show you a sample of one of the curriculum, but didn’t know how. There are so many pages, so this was the best way I could think of that won’t take forever to download.
Three Basic Kinds Of Sheets So you will notice three basic kinds of sheets. Parents Sheets, Discussion Sheets and Work Sheets.
Parents Sheets Parents Sheets have instructions and are your answer keys to everything. Discussion sheets These are for if you choose to discuss vocab or ideas with your child. Your child will check off the boxes, fill in their name, date, then these sheets GO IN YOUR PORTFOLIO showing the dates, topics and what you discussed with your child. Worksheets These are if you want your child to do some writing, or flush out the ideas and go into a little more depth. Of course these are named, dated by your child and also GO IN YOUR PORTFOLIO ! Regular & Advanced Then you will see that each of the discussions/vocab, etc. are divided into Regular Vocab/Discussion and Advanced Vocab/Discussion. This is up to you, and gives you a choice of how deep, or how much material you want your child to go into. You can do one, or both. You’re the parent, and YOU know best. Of course, whichever or both also get named, dated and GO IN YOUR PORTFOLIO!
Reading Comprehension The next section has a whole bunch of stuff on helping your child develop reading comprehension skills. These skills will help your child be able to always come away with AND REMEMBER the most important points from a book. Again you will see Discussion Sheets which GO IN YOUR PORTFOLIO and Worksheets which GO IN YOUR PORTFOLIO.
Note Taking Section This section also has several discussion and worksheets to help your child pull out important facts and information from a book. This and the reading comprehension is APPLICABLE FOR 6 YEAR OLDS AS WELL AS 16 YEAR OLDS! This will cement the important facts and ideas into their heads. Of couse, this has lots of important stuff to be named, dated and will GO IN YOUR PORTFOLIO.
Final Book Wrap-Up & Discussion Section This is an important part that’s always skipped over when reading a book. This is where your child organizes the information they learned in their brain. Normally kids just throw down a book when done. This way they organize the throughts and ideas that came from the book, and commit them to memory. Not a lot of time, but important. And as always, these get named, dated and GO IN YOUR PORTFOLIO!
A Whole Bunch Of Worksheets The last section has a whole lot of worksheets that are traditional crossword puzzles, missing words, magic squares, etc. One IMPORTANT NOTE about these is that they are NOT designed to be overly challenging. They are designed to be reinforcing! Lots and lots of studies as well as homeschool practical experience tells us that the more your child feels they are “smart” and can do it, and still goes over the concepts and vocabulary and feels successful, WE ARE ALL SUCCESSFUL! So that’s how they are designed. You will see them in sets of three usually. One for each group of vocab/concepts and a third mixed one. You DON’T HAVE TO DO THEM ALL. But you have them to choose from. Isn’t choice a great thing. And of course, any that you choose for your child to do should be named, dated and GO IN YOUR CHILD’S PORTFOLIO!
