CURRICULUM FOR SHORT STORY: When a man created a bunch of tin soldiers, he ran out of tin so one soldier was left with only one leg. When this soldier was given to a young boy, the soldier fell in love with a paper doll. He somehow found himself on an adventure outside the house, eventually ending up back at the place he started. At the end, the soldier is burned in the stove and the paper doll burned with him, leaving only a pile of ashes behind. The toy soldier learned to "not want what wasn't his."
