CURRICULUM FOR SHORT STORY: When the White Bear comes to a poor family's cottage to request their youngest daughter, she originally refuses. After being convinced to go away with him by her father, she eventually finds herself keeping the White Bear company in an empty castle. Eventually, she discovers that the White Bear is really a prince underneath his stepmother's curse. In order to help him break that curse, the girl travels all the way to the castle east of the sun and west of the moon. At the end, she marries the prince and breaks the curse.
